October sales of Eesti Gaas drop 18% on year due to warm weather

Due to warm weather, the Estonian natural gas and electricity seller Eesti Gaas sold 18.1% less gas in October 2018 than in the same month last year, informed LETA/BNS.

Eesti Gaas in October of this year sold 31.2 mln cubic meters of gas in Estonia, while the amount of gas sold in the same month the year before was 38.1 mln cubic meters.

In the first ten months of the year, the gas seller owned by investment company Infortar belonging to Ain Hanschmidt, Enn Pant and Kalev Jarvelill sold 321.8 mln cubic meters of gas in Estonia. The number decreased 6.4%, having stood at 343.7 mln cubic meters in the same period the year before.


The sales of compressed natural gas (CNG) at filling stations of Eesti Gaas totaled 700,000 cubic meters in October 2018. Eesti Gaas has sold altogether 6.2 mln cubic meters of compressed gas in the first ten months of the year, while the amount sold in the same period the year before was 5.2 mln cubic meters.


Sales of electric energy amounted to 7.6 gigawatt-hours (GWh) in October and to 64.5 GWh in the ten months, compared with respectively 4.6 GWh and 39.5 GWh last year. 

According to the national weather service, the average air temperature in October this year was 7.8 degrees Celsius, which is 1.6 degrees Celsius warmer than the year before.
