Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas purchased LNG from Cheniere
This will be one of the first times in the Baltic States for
a natural gas supplier to employ a practice common in the Western Europe by
taking advantage of the global LNG market and synergy opportunities provided by
Baltic States natural gas infrastructure – LNG terminal and storage facility
for commercial purposes.
“The expertise of Lietuvos
Energija Group and the establishment of the name of Lithuania in the global
LNG market, its contracts and continuous talks with the world’s leading LNG
suppliers has rendered tangible results. US natural gas suppliers increase the
scope of their supply to the global market, which contributes to the competitiveness
of our country and is beneficial for natural gas consumers seeking to reduce
energy expenses”, – said the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Lietuvos Energija Dr. Dalius
Misiūnas.
First contacts with Cheniere
Marketing International were established by another Lietuvos Energija owned company LITGAS,
which signed a LNG master trade agreement with the U.S. company at the end of
February 2015.
“Being a part of Lietuvos
Energija Group and having an opportunity to take advantage of gained
experience, we successfully expand our geography of acquisitions attracting new
LNG suppliers to Lithuania. This purchase is a part of our constant striving
for optimal diversification of sources of supply exploiting market
opportunities and seasonal price fluctuations. This allows Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas (LDT)
to offer customers in Lithuania and other Baltic States competitive prices and
flexible conditions of supply”, – said Mantas
Mikalajūnas, CEO of Lietuvos Dujų
Tiekimas.
Lietuvos Dujų Tiekimas
is a natural gas and trading company, part of Lietuvos
Energija energy company group. LDT ensures a reliable supply of natural gas to enterprises, public
sector institutions and residents, satisfying the energy needs of more than
half a million (560,000) customers in Lithuania and other Baltic States.
