Electricity price in Latvia grows 1% last week

Last week electricity prices in Latvia and Lithuania were EUR 38.4 per MWh, which is by 1% higher than a week ago, according to Latvia’s Latvenergo power utility reported writes LETA.

The slight growth of the power price in both countries was promoted by electricity price level in the neighboring countries and by 36% lower power import capacity from Russia and Belarus.


Power price in Latvia and Lithuania fluctuated between EUR 27.14 to EUR 79.97 per MWh.

In Estonia the average market price last week rose by 4% to EUR 37.86 per MWh, and the fluctuations were between EUR 27.14 to EUR 79.97 per MWh. The trends in the Estonian power market were set by the activities in the Finnish electricity market.


Last week Baltic power plants produced 83% of the power necessary in the Baltic states. Lithuania imported 79% of the total consumed energy, Latvia imported 8%, and Estonia produced by 54% more power than consumed.
