BC, Riga, 26.08.2016.Print version
Latvian power utility Latvenergo, which operates under the name of Elektrum in the Baltic market, will continue to supply electric power to Latvijas Dzelzcels (Latvian Railways, LDz) national rail company, reports LETA/BNS.

LDz will receive electric power from Latvenergo for the next three years under a contract signed between Latvenergo and Elektrum on Thursday, August 25. LDz is the largest consumer of electric power in Latvia with extensive infrastructure, consuming at least 100 GWh of electricity a year. The new contract allows for continuing the already existing successful cooperation, Latvenergo spokeswoman Ivita Bidere said.

Over the next three years, Elektrum will be supplying electricity to more than 400 railway infrastructure objects across Latvia.

Latvenergo is a state-owned electricity utility, which also provides telecommunications and IT services. The Latvenergo group has six subsidiaries -- Sadales Tikls (Distribution Network), Latvijas Elektriskie Tikli (Latvian Power Grid), Energijas Publiskais Lietotajs (Public Trader of Energy), Liepajas Energija heating utility in the south-western Latvian town of Liepaja as well as a Lithuanian subsidiary Elektrum Lietuva, and an Estonian subsidiary Elektrum Eesti which has a subsidiary Elektrum Latvia.
