Latvia's energy dependence down to 37% in 2014

Data compiled by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia show that in 2014 the share of wood-fuel in gross consumption of energy resources accounted for 30.8 %, which is 7.3% more than in 2010 (23.5%), reported LETA.
At the same time, consumption of natural gas dropped by 7.4%, and in 2014 its share in gross consumption of energy resources amounted to 24.1%.
Latvia's energy dependence has also decreased from 43% in 2010 to 37% in 2014.
In 2014, gross consumption of energy resources accounted for 188.1 petajoules (PJ), which is 0.5% more than in 2013. Over the last ten years gross, consumption of energy resources has not significantly changed. In 2004, gross consumption of energy resources accounted for 188.7 PJ, which is 0.3% more than in 2014.
