In February 2015, imports of natural gas to Estonia reached 58.5 million cubic meters; the gas bought by new gas market participants from Lithuania amounted to almost 10 million cubic meters, or 17% of total imports, reports LETA, referring to Estonia's main grid company Elering.

The remaining 83% of gas was imported by Eesti Gaas.

Gas imports from Lithuania began in December, when the share bought by balance operator Baltic Energy Partners from there amounted to 0.6% of total gas imports. In January, the share of gas bought from Lithuania rose to 8.6% of gas purchased. In early February, Reola Gaas also started buying gas from Lithuania.

In February, the total volume of gas imported to Estonia decreased by 7.6% compared to last year. One reason for the decline was somewhat warmer weather than last year.

Between Latvia and Russia, 82.7 million cubic meters of gas was moving via the Estonian gas grid.

The price of gas delivered to Estonia, based on Eesti Gaas price formula, was according to the estimate of Elering 30.10 euros per megawatt-hour on average.
