New Estonian scientific book to be presented in Brussels
The book is based on the most recent wave of the SHARE data collected in 2010/2011 and encompasses a unique examination of the various influences that the recent economic crisis had on the lives of people aged fifty and over in 18 European countries and Israel. Its main purpose is to provide scientific evidence of what has changed in the activities and life circumstances of older Europeans since the crisis has begun, and how it has affected intergenerational solidarity, informs LETA.
More than thirty multidisciplinary papers assess the influences of the crisis on income, wealth and consumption; challenges at the end of working life for active and healthy ageing; and social networks and intergenerational solidarity across the life course.
In Estonia, this research was conducted by Tallinn University, the National Institute for Health Development, Estonian Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics and the Ministry of Social Affairs in cooperation with Statistics Estonia.
