A book about Latvian, Baltic, and Nordic films and the filmmaking industry – "Stork Flying over Pinewood", which was officially presented by Liv Ullmann at the Riga International Film Festival 2014, has landed in bookstores.

The Riga International Film Festival spokesman Kaspars Bekeris told LETA that the book offered information about the most important film directors and producers in the region, about Baltic and Nordic' films screened abroad, and the key film festivals in the Baltic countries.

The book, written by Jan Erik Holst, focuses on Baltic-Nordic co-productions, but it also tells about filmmaking in Latvia since the restoration of independence.

"I can assure you that Jan Erik Holst has conducted singular research with symbolic importance. Besides film projects, the author in essence describes the development of Latvia and Latvian arts since the restoration of independence," says Riga International Film Festival Artistic Director Sonora Broka.

The book has also generated a good deal of publicity in the author's native Norway, earning accolades from the country's leading film critics.

The book is available at "Niceplace Mansards", "Jana Rozes", "Valters un Rapa", "Lira" and "Robert's Books" bookstores, and the movie theater "K.Suns".
