BC, Tallinn, 12.08.2013.Print version
Estonian experts are helping Moldovans to modernize their healthcare system, recommending them to first and foremost, digitalize prescriptions, radiological photos and illness registries, Public Broadcasting reports, informs LETA.

Moldova is currently reforming its healthcare system and asked for the advice of Estonian experts to compile their e-health development plan. After reviewing the situation, Estonian experts found three spheres where Moldovans could digitalize services. Dr Peeter Ross, who visited Moldova this week, explained that one of them is definitely digital prescriptions, the other digitalization of radiological photos and emerging hospitals' photo systems. The third sphere is registries.

The cooperation with Moldovans has lasted for nearly a year. Estonia's help consists mainly of sharing experiences and recommending services.

Ross said that there are "surprisingly many" states that Estonians advise about e-services, for example Montenegro, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Finland.

The project is handled from the Estonian side by political studies Centre Praxis, whose Moldovan partners include local Healthcare Ministry and World Health Organization representation. The project is co-financed by the Estonian foreign ministry.
