Print versionIn 2020, the threat posed by Russian security services to Latvia will remain high and at the same time the activities of Chinese services are expected to increase in the country, the State Security Service (VDD) informed LETA.

he intensity of Russian intelligence services will remain at its highest level. Special services of other countries from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which Russia can use to pursue its geopolitical interests, will also be of interest to the VDD," the service pointed out.
The names of these countries was not specified, bu the CIS is made up of Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgysztan, Tadjikistan and Uzbekistan.
However, the service indicated that more information about the risks posed by foreign special services will be announced in the public review of the VDD which will be released early next year.
