Construction of Latvian pavilion for Astana Expo 2017 begins in Kazakhstan
The pavilion will be built by Kazakh companies but when
equipment is delivered to Astana in late April, it will be assembled by Latvian
contractors.
The Latvian pavilion will have two levels. The ground level
with the area of 365 square meters will house the information stand and a store
of Latvian-made products but the upper level with the area of 209 square meters
will be used for business events.
So far 18 Latvian companies have registered for
participation in the trade fair and more than 30 are still contemplating the
possibility of going to Astana Expo. Of the total cost of the project planned
at EUR 779,000, EUR 95,000 still need to be raised but the amount includes EUR
70,000 which are to be earmarked as contingency funds. If there is not enough
new participants to raise the required amount, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce
and Industry will contribute the missing amount, Endzins said.
The chamber of commerce expects over 100,000 people to visit
the Latvian pavilion during Astana Expo 2017. The opening event will be
attended by Latvian Transport Minister Uldis Augulis and the President of the
Latvian state-owned railway company Latvijas Dzelzcels, Edvins Berzins. It is
possible that Latvian Prime Maris Kucinskis may also attend the event.
The Latvian Ports, Transit and Logistics Council resolved to
forward the report of Chamber of Commerce and Industry about preparations for
Astana Expo 2017 to the Latvian government.
Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan, will host Expo 2017
from June 10 to September 10, 2017.
