Latvian militaries to make OSCE evaluation visit to Russia's 25th Independent Motor Rifle Brigade in Pskov

Print versionTwo representatives of the Latvian defense sector and one Lithuanian representative will be conducting an evaluation visit to the 25th Independent Motor Rifle Brigade in Pskov, Russia, on January 24-26 under the Vienna Document of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Latvian Defense Ministry said LETA.

The purpose of the evaluation visit is to verify the information about the 25th Independent Motor Rifle Brigade submitted as part of the annual exchange of military information under the Vienna Document.
The Vienna Document is a confidence- and security-building measure in which the OSCE members agree to inspections and data exchanges in order to increase transparency of their conventional forces.
Under the Vienna Document, an OSCE member state has to host at least three arms control inspections and at least one evaluation visit on their territory every year.
