BC, Riga, 09.12.2016.Print version
The European Union's sanctions against Russia must remain in place until the Minsk agreements on Eastern Ukraine are implemented, the three Baltic prime ministers said on Riga on Friday.

"Current EU sanctions policy and principles must remain in place until Russia returns to the principles of international law, including full and irreversible implementation of the Minsk Agreements," Algirdas Butkevicius of Lithuania, Maris Kucinskis of Latvia and Juri Ratas of Estonia said in a joint statement.

Butkevicius said in a press release that Russia has so far made no effort to implement the agreements.

"Lithuania, together with other partners, will continue to fully support Kiev to ensure that Ukraine carries out its key reforms as soon as possible," he said.

Lithuania's caretaker prime minister drew his counterparts' attention to another very important topic, nuclear safety, during their meeting in Riga.
