Usakovs holds private meetings with Khodorkovsky and Venediktov in Riga

Print versionRiga Mayor Nils Usakovs had a meeting with Russian opposition politician and former Russian oil magnate Mikhail Khodorkovsky, as well as the chief editor of the Russian radio Eho Moskvi, Alexei Venediktov.

Usakovs told LETA that these visits were private meetings with "friends and guests from Moscow", during which they "discussed recent matters".
Usakovs published a photo on his "Twitter" account featuring Venediktov under the comment "Enticing Eho Moskvi to come to Riga". When asked to elaborate on the statement, Usakovs said: "Venediktov is my friend".
Khodorkovsky, too, revealed his thoughts on "Twitter": "After a long break, I am now in Riga. A beautiful and a very Russian-speaking city. I got acquainted with the mayor. A very likeable person. Lots of meetings with colleagues."
Usakovs declined to reveal the reason of Khodorkovsky's visit in Riga.
