Helsingin Sanomat writes that Estonians have created the most of companies in the construction, cleaning works and beauty services sphere but the official data on the companies fluctuates strongly.

According to the Finnish tax board, around 3,500 companies with Estonian background operate in Finland while according to the Estonian embassy the number is actually around 1,000. A whole 5,900 companies created by Estonians have been registered in the Finnish business registry but that number includes non-operating companies.

According to the July statistics of the Finnish statistical centre, the number of companies with Estonian background has increased by 60% in three years. Estonians generally create small companies with 1-4 employees. Estonians mostly operate in construction, cleaning works and beauty services sphere.

The number of Finnish subsidiaries of Estonian concerns however forms just a fraction of the number of Estonian subsidiaries of Finnish companies.
