On Thursday, May 6, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis held a meeting with Chantal Poiret, Ambassador of France to Latvia during her introductory visit. The officials discussed the activation of the political dialogue at the level of senior officials, cooperation in the area of economy and culture, informed BC Laine Kucinska.

Both sides welcomed the political declaration on the strategic partnership signed between Latvia and France in 2008, emphasizing that the completion and signing of the action plan would be a logical next step of cooperation.

 

The officials underlined the importance of the development of bilateral economic relations. The Ambassador of France to Latvia expressed her commitment to promote the interest of French investors in business opportunities in Latvia. The Ambassador of France to Latvia was interested in the current political and economic developments in Latvia.

 

The Prime Minister thanked for the support of France to the candidacy of Latvia in establishing the Office of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) in Rīga. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for cooperation between both countries in the area of culture, particularly emphasizing the active role of the French Cultural Centre.

 

At the end of the introductory visit, the Prime Minister wished the Ambassador of France to Latvia success in developing the bilateral relations.
