Andris Piebalgs: Latvia does not look bad in Europe

Print versionThe economic crisis has not destroyed the image of Latvia in Europe, believes European Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs.

"We criticize ourselves too much," Piebalgs said at the annual "Cicero Symposium" today, adding that Latvia did not look bad at all in Europe.
Latvia has a future, and it is certainly "not on the brink of destruction", Piebalgs believes.
He also praised the Latvian government and parliament's attempt to consolidate the state budget, and stressed that Latvia must join the eurozone as soon as possible, or else Latvia would always be not as competitive as other European Union member states, reports LETA.
