Harmony/GKP bloc retains majority in Riga

According to preliminary results from the Central Election Commission, despite losing a considerable number of seats in the Riga City Council, the Harmony/Honor to Serve Riga (GKP) bloc has retained a majority in Riga.
After counting votes in 115 out of 158 polling stations in Riga, the bloc received 51.82% of votes. Further down the list is the bloc of the Latvian Alliance of Regions and For Latvia’s Development with 13.33%, and the New Conservative Party with 13.18% of votes.
The fourth most popular party, according to preliminary results, is the National Alliance with 9.02% support, while Unity received 6.12% of votes.
This would mean that Harmony/GKP would hold 33 seats in the 60 seat Riga City Council, down from the 39 seats it currently holds.
Other parties have not overcome the 5 percent barrier, according to preliminary results.
