Polling stations will be open throughout the country from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Latvian voters will elect municipal lawmakers in 119 constituencies - nine large cities and 110 regions.

The number of local council members can be 9, 13, 15, 17 or 19 depending on the number of the local population, with the exception of the Latvian capital Riga which has 60 seats on the Riga City Council.

Residents may only vote at one polling station where they are registered to vote. Voters were informed about their polling stations by mail, but they can also find it out by visiting the Central Election Commission's website www.cvk.lv or the Citizenship and Immigration Affairs Office's website www.pmlp.gov.lv, or by phone: 67 049 999.

According to the Central Election Commission, 558 lists with 8,883 candidates have been registered for these municipal elections in Latvia.

The election commission informs that the oldest of the candidates registered for the local elections in Latvia is 88 years old but the youngest candidates are 18 years old, which is the voting age in the country.

The average age of the candidate is 45.7 years. Most of the candidates or 2,034 are aged 41-50 years. There are ten 18-year-olds and also ten people older than 80 years among the candidates.
