Eesti Energia Kaevandused makes 49 employees redundant

Eesti Energia Kaevandused, the mining arm of Estonia’s energy giant Eesti Energia, will make 49 employees of its main office redundant in order to make work more effective, Eesti Päevaleht Online/LETA reports.

Eesti Energia Kaevandused AS board chairman Ilmar Jõgi said that the aim of the company is to mine oil shale and be an effectively working and sustainable company. In order to cut permanent costs and make the company more effective, it has decided to carry out some restructuring of its main office.

 

The board of Eesti Energia Kaevandused will make the decisions concerning restructuring of the main office’s departments on October 12-November 1 and the new structure will come in force on November 1. The redundancies take place gradually, till the end of March next year. Some employees who will be made redundant during the structural changes will be offered work in other places in Eesti Energia.

 

Eesti Energia Kaevandused is a company focused on mining and transporting oil shale. The Ida-Virumaa-based company has 3,150 employees at present.
