Estonia: Go Bus to start servicing Kuressaare-Tartu long-distance route from February

BC, Tallinn, 02.01.2020.Print version
Bus operator Go Bus is to open a new long-distance route between the cities of Tartu in southeastern Estonia and Kuressaare on the island of Saaremaa from Feb. 1 as Lux Express, the current operator on the route, has decided to stop servicing the long-distance route, informed LETA/BNS.

Compared with the current departure times, there will be differences of up to five minutes in the new schedule. The bus will depart from Tartu every day at 7:10 a.m. and arrive in Kuressaare at 1 p.m. From Kuressaare, the bus will depart every day at 3:35 p.m. and reach the destination at 9:40 p.m., the bus operator said.

"The route fits us well logistically and provided there is a critical amount of passengers, we will be able to manage the route sustainably," Henri Pokk, head of logistics at Go Bus, said.

Pokk added that ticket prices will be similar to the current ones and even slightly cheaper if the passenger covers shorter distances along the route.

Lux Express will operate the route until Jan. 31.

A few changes will also be made on the Tallinn-Kuressaare route from the same date. Instead of the current departure time of 8:10 a.m., the departure time of bus number 515 from Kuressaare to Tallinn will be 8:15 a.m. and the same bus will depart from Tallinn at 2:10 p.m. instead of the current 2 p.m. A few very rarely used stops will be done away with along both directions of the route.
