The Tartu city government has decided to financially support a team of Estonian students who are planning to take part in the renowned Bridgestone World Solar Challenge race of solar powered cars in Australia in 2021, informs LETA/BNS.
The city of Tartu will provide 25,000 euros from its public transport organization budget for 2021 to support the nonprofit SolaCar Estonia in developing a solar powered car and taking part in the international competition Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in 2021, spokespeople for the city government said on Monday.
The race with long traditions will be held along the route Darwin-Adelaide in the course of eight days in October 2021. In the race, competitors must field a car powered solely by solar energy that must complete the 3,000-kilometer route.
