The Estonian Police and Border Guard Board in accordance with restrictions on movement established by the prime minister, began checking people traveling to and from Estonia's western islands Saaremaa, Muhumaa, Hiiumaa, Vormsi, Kihnu and Ruhnu, reported LETA/BNS.
The police are checking passengers traveling by vehicle and on foot at Rohukula, Heltermaa, Virtsu, Kuivastu, Munalaiu, Soru and Triigi harbors, spokespeople for the Police and Border Guard said.
"We are checking passengers on the basis of the decision by the government committee of the republic, and only permitting entry or departure for people who have the right for it. This is done for the purpose of curbing the spread of the virus in Estonia," chief of the West prefecture of the Police and Border Guard Board Kaido Koplas said. "We would request for everyone's understanding as right now, it is crucial that everyone should contribute to keeping people healthy."
