Riga Port’s cargo turnover surpasses cautious forecasts in 11 months
During 11 months of 2015, 36.5 million tons of various cargo were handled at the Freeport of Riga, which is by 2.1% or 0.77 million tons less than during the reference period in 2014. Although this year the volume of cargo has declined, in general it is the second most successful period in the history of the port, reports BC the press service.

Container сargo drop at the Freeport of Riga is the least in 2015
One of the priorities of the Freeport of Riga Authority for 2015 is the activity “Dredging of access channel for vessels entering Riga port”. Due to the continuous dredging of the riverbed of Daugava, which started in 2008, the port has been implementing the opportunity to serve larger vessels. During 10 months of 2015 the port handled an average of 3027 vessels, most of them being dry cargo vessels – 1303, 640 tankers, 475 container ships and 333 bulk carriers, reported BC port’s press service.

A Public Private Partnership (PPP) project to reconstruct the A14 Vilnius-Utena highway has been approved by the Lithuanian Parliament on the 22nd of December, 2015. Statistics Lithuania informs that, based on provisional data, in November 2015, the turnover (VAT excluded) of enterprises engaged in wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles amounted to EUR 213.4 million and, against October 2015, decreased by 9.2% at constant prices, informs LETA/BNS.
