Adria Airways privatization not to affect Estonia's Nordic Aviation Group

BC, Tallinn, 29.12.2015.Print version
According to the news portal balkans.com, the Slovenian government is likely to sell the state-owned carrier Adria Airways into private hands; the Estonian airline Nordic Aviation Group that orders flights from the Slovenian company says it would not be affected by the partner's potential privatization, reports LETA/BNS.

"The possible privatization of Adria Airways will not affect us directly and our cooperation with Adria will continue also afterwards in accordance with the agreements we've entered into," spokesperson for Nordic Aviation Liis Veersalu told BNS.

Balkans.com reported on Dec. 21 that the privatization of Adria Airways is likely to be decided at a meeting of shareholders on Jan. 19. The vote was originally planned for Nov. 23 but was postponed in order to give more time for negotiations with potential investors.

According to Slovenian media reports the current plan is for Adria Airways to increase capital by issuing new stock while existing shareholders – the Slovenian government with a 91% stake and some minority shareholders – will not have a pre-emptive right to buy the shares.

Nordic Aviation Group began to offer flights on Nov. 8. The flights are currently operated by Adria Airways in cooperation with BMI, Trade Air, NextJet and Carpatair that provide the fleet and the crews.
