Cargo turnover in Salacgriva port decreased by 28.5% in 4 months

Reloading of woodchip was down 8.6% year-on-year to 37,595 tons, accounting for 35.5% of the port’s cargo turnover in January-April 2020 (27.7% a year ago).
Reloading of pulpwood cargos decreased 53.5% year-on-year to 24,758 tons, handling of peat was down 28.9% to 19,717 tons, and reloading of asphalt jumped 2.9 times to 12,495 tons.
Firewood cargos declined 17.9% to 5,253 tons, while handling of ceramsite dropped 48.6% to 6,217 tons.
The number of ships handled in Salacgriva dropped by 13 on year to 35 ships in the first four months of this year.
In 2019, the port of Salacgriva reloaded 299,715 tons of cargo, which was 13.9% less than a year before.
There are three large and seven small ports in Latvia. In 2018, Salacgriva ranked third among the small ports by cargo turnover.
