Lithuania became one of the first three EU member countries to join the initiative of bilateral simultaneous inspections aimed at combatting undeclared work across Europe, the Lithuanian State Labor Inspectorate.
Jonas Gricius, the head of the inspectorate, described such cross-border actions as a turning point in inspections throughout Europe.
The first European joint inspection was coordinated by the European Labor Authority, and an EU agency set up in 2019 to coordinate and support the enforcement of EU labor law.
