One of Spain's biggest companies sets up business in Lithuania

Tecnicas Reunidas, a Spanish construction company that is part of IBEX 35, the benchmark stock market index of the Bolsa de Madrid, Spain's principal stock exchange, has set up a company in Lithuania, writes LETA/BNS.

Tecnicas Reunidas Lithuania was established on November 3 and Spain's Tecnicas Reunidas is its sole shareholder, according to the Lithuanian Center of Registers.


Founded in 1959, Tecnicas Reunidas is headquartered in Madrid and implements gas and oil infrastructure projects. It posted 4.7 bn euros in revenue last year and earned a net profit of 39.4 mln euros.


The company is listed on Madrid Stock Echange and part of the IBEX 35 index since April 2008.

Spanish companies have been actively taking part in railway projects in Lithuania recently. Commissioned by Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways), Lithuania's state-owned railway company, Idom Consulting, Engineering, Architecture is drafting a project for two sections of the European standard-gauge railway Rail Baltica.


And another Spanish company, Elecnor, is electrifying the Kaisiadorys-Klaipeda section and the Vilnius railway hub.
