EPAM Systems, a Belarusian-founded, US-based global provider of digital platform engineering and software development services, is opening a new office in Vilnius, with plans to hire about 600 highly qualified IT engineers in the next five years, Invest Lithuania said.

"We are impressed with the Lithuania’s dynamic information and communication technologies (ICT) sector," the government's foreign investment promotion agency quoted EPAM Systems Senior Vice President and CFO Jason Peterson as saying in a press release.

"The country is home to a fast-growing IT and engineering community and with support from Invest Lithuania, we expect to settle in quickly and become an essential part of the country’s global business services (GBS) community," he said.

The Lithuanian engineering team will develop artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software and data engineering, the Internet of Things and automation solutions.

EPAM is serving customers in more than 30 countries across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. It was named as one of Fortune's 100 Fastest-Growing Companies in 2019.

EPAM Systems was founded by Arkadiy Dobkin, one of the most successful Belarusian business people. It became the first company to represent Belarus on the New York Stock Exchange when it went public in 2012.

EPAM Systems is headquartered in Pennsylvania. Despite the company's global expansion, however, a significant number of its engineers are working in Belarus.
