Under a 1.37-million-euro contract signed in June, ILF Consulting Engineers Polska will work out technical specifications for tendering procedures for submarine cable and converter stations, the key elements of the Harmony Link project, and assist in the preparation of other project documentation, Lithuania's Litgrid said in a press release on Monday.

The advisors will also assess the risk of deepening the cable, take care of the permits for laying the cable in the Swedish exclusive economic zone, and advise on other issues.

"The maritime interconnection with Poland is a particularly important and complex project," Litgrid CEO Daivis Virbickas said. "We are bringing in experts with the necessary experience in managing complex projects and high reliability standards for the key parts of it."

ILF Consulting Engineers' portfolio includes power grid projects in Germany, Austria, the Middle East and Africa.

The 330-kilometer, 700-megawatt submarine HVDC cable is the largest of the projects aimed at synchronizing the Baltic power grids with the continental European system by 2025.
