"The first imported coronavirus case has been registered in Belarus," the ministry said.

The coronavirus patient is a student who on February 22 flew into Belarus from Iran via the Azerbaijani capital Baku.

"The patient and people to have had contacts with him have been placed in isolated premises at the Minsk infectious diseases hospital. The young man is feeling satisfactory," the ministry said in a statement.

Considering the epidemic situation in South Korea, Iran and Italy, the Belarusian Health Ministry has decided to test all people who have arrived from these countries since February 20 for possible a coronavirus infection.

Belarus is the third neighbor country of Latvia to report their first coronavirus cases in the past couple of days. Estonia reported its first coronavirus case on Thursday and Lithuania on Friday. In Estonia's case, the coronavirus patient, an Iranian citizen residing in Estonia, had traveled to Tallinn by bus from Riga.
