Estonian discus thrower Gerd Kanter won bronze medal in London

Discus thrower Gerd Kanter won a bronze medal with the result 68.03 metres at the London Olympic Games on Tuesday evening, writes LETA/National Broadcasting.
The Gold medal went to German athlete Robert Harting who threw 68.27 and silver medal to Iranian athlete Ehsan Hadidi who reached 68.18.
Other Estonian discus throwers failed to break to the final competition, Märt Israel ranked 25th and Aleksander Tammert 27th.
Gerd Kanter won the gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Games, throwing the discus 68.72 metres.
President Toomas Hendrik Ilves as well as other Estonian leaders congratulated Kanter for the medal. “Thank you, Gerd Kanter, for offering us some great moments at the London Olympic Games with your persistence, focus and athletic courage,” stated Ilves. “Together with all of your supporters I thank you, your coaches and your assisting team,” he added.
