In a message released today, President Andris Berzins sends Christmas greetings to Latvia's Orthodox and Old Believers, LETA was informed by the president's press service.

''From as long as we can remember, Christmas has always come each year with the same message of belief, hope, love and good. These are the true values of life that are sometime forgotten in our every day lives,'' Berzins points out.

''I wish for all of you to retain the spirit of Christmas every day! I hope you have a peaceful, harmonious and love-filled Christmas holiday!,'' the president added in his address.

Altogether, there are over 300,000 Orthodox and Old Believers in Latvia, who celebrate Christmas day on January 7.
