Former Daile Theater director cleared of embezzlement charges in Latvia

The Corruption Prevention Bureau has cleared former Daile Theater Director Aivars Linis of embezzlement charges, prosecutor Velta Zaluksne told LETA.
Linis was suspected of embezzling more than LVL 21,000 when he worked for the European Commission Representation in Latvia. The criminal process on embezzlement was started in September 2008, but on December 5 this year, the charges against Linis were lifted by the Corruption Prevention Bureau, and the prosecutor's office endorsed the bureau's decision.
Investigation in the criminal case continues though. It is clear that money was embezzled, but there is no evidence to prove that it was done by Linis, explained Zaluksne.
