Pope Benedict XVI does not intend to visit Estonia in the near future and it is possible he will never visit Estonia due to his age, Estonia’s ambassador to the Holy See Jüri Seilenthal said.

Seilenthal told Estonian public television ETV that there is some idea about the future travel destinations of the Pope but he travels less than the previous Pope John Paul II did.

Allegedly Benedict XVI intends to travel for just three more years due to his age, informs LETA.

Estonia and Vatican had more active relations at the beginning of 1990s when John Paul II visited Estonia and the then President Lennart Meri visited Vatican.

There are around 5,700 Catholics in Estonia.
