Estonian woman is the youngest person to finish 246 km long Spartathlon

22-year-old Estonian runner Heleen Vennikas became at the weekend the youngest runner to finish the 246 km race from Athens to Sparta or Spartathlon, Estonian press reports.
A total of five Estonians started at the legendary ultra-marathon and just two of them, father and daughter Peeter and Heleen Vennikas finished, with the result of 35 hours, 5 minutes and 53 seconds. Heleen and Peeter Vennikas were 100th and 101st respectively. Heleen Vennikas was the 11th among women, writes LETA.
The winner of the Spartathlon was Italian Ivan Cudin with 23 hours, 3 minutes and 6 seconds. The fastest woman was Englishwoman Emily Gelder with 30 hours, 17 minutes and 3 seconds. Just 128 out of the 351 runners who started the race finished in the 36 hours time limit.
