Riga "Dinamo" beat "Vityaz" to go within one point of Moscow "CSKA"

In the second encounter of a home series in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) Wednesday, Riga "Dinamo" overcame Chekhov "Vityaz" 3:1 (0:0, 1:0, 2:1) to go within one point of the Western Conference's seventh placed team Moscow "CSKA", informs LETA.
The goals for Riga "Dinamo" came from Olegs Sorokins, Marcel Hossa, and Aleksandrs Nizhivijs, with Sergei Zuborev on the scoresheet for "Vityaz".
The Latvian club's good run of form continues, with Riga "Dinamo" now having won ten of their last 12 matches, and seven out of their last eight.
This was the second match between the clubs this season. The first match, on September 22, was also won by the Riga club with a score of 5:3.
In the KHL Western Conference standings, Riga "Dinamo" are in eighth place with 75 points from 51 games, with seventh-placed Moscow "CSKA" on 76 points. Ninth place is occupied by Nizhny Novgorod "Torpedo", who have 70 points. Vityaz with 45 points are located in last place in both the conference and the league as a whole, and have already lost any chance of qualifying for the play-offs of the Gagarin Cup.
In the rest of this season's final home series, Riga "Dinamo" will face Nizhny Novgorod "Torpedo" and Moscow "CSKA", both Western Conference teams. The games will take place on Friday and Sunday.
After these matches have been played, there will be a break in the season for the Vancouver Winter Olympics; "Dinamo" will then round off the KHL regular season with a three-game road series at Omsk "Avangard", Astana "Barys" and Ufa "Salavat Yulayev".
