In Kontinental Ice Hockey League (KHL) action yesterday, Latvian ice hockey club Riga ''Dinamo'' defeated Russian ice hockey club and league leaders Magnitogorsk "Metallurg" 3:2, informs LETA.

Guntis Galvins, Janis Sprukts and Martins Cipulis scored the goals for ''Dinamo'', whilst Stanislav Chistov scored two goals for ''Metallurg''.

This was the second time these two teams played each other this season, as ''Dinamo'' lost to "Metallurg" in Magnitogorsk in October 2:4.

Latvian forward Martins Karsums also made his debut with ''Dinamo'' yesterday, and played on the same line as Janis Sprukts and Girts Ankipans. These three players also play on the same line on the Latvian men's team.

On the other hand, defenders Krisjanis Redlihs and Jekabs Redlihs did not play yesterday due to injury.

In the KHL's Western Conference at the moment, ''Dinamo'' is in ninth place (out of 12 clubs) with 59 points in 44 games, whilst ''Metallurg'' is in first place in the Eastern Conference with 98 points in 48 games.

Riga ''Dinamo'' will play its next game on January 21 at home against Russian ice hockey club Moscow ''Spartak''.
