In a Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) game in Riga last night, Latvian ice hockey club Riga "Dinamo" defeated Minsk "Dynamo" 2-0 (1-0, 1-0, 0-0) and rose to eighth place in the KHL Western Conference, writes LETA.

Aleksandrs Nizivijs and Mikelis Redlihs scored the goals for Riga "Dinamo", whereas "Dinamo" goalie Edgars Masalskis earned his first shutout this season.

Masalskis and Minsk "Dynamo" defender Duvie Westcott, who played for Riga "Dinamo" last season, were named the players of the game.

Both teams had already played each other this season, when Minsk "Dynamo" won 2-1 at home.

Riga "Dinamo" rose to eighth place in the KHL Western Conference with 46 points in 35 games, whereas Minsk "Dynamo" remains in tenth place with 40 points in 35 games.

Riga "Dinamo" next game December 22 (away) will once again be against Minsk "Dynamo".
