The blood bank of the Northern Estonian Regional Hospital launched a unique donors’ database on its website, writes EPL Online/LETA.

The e-Donor database can be used only by the donors who have given blood at least three times and who have an ID card, an ID card reader and a personal donor’s code. The database includes the donor’s contact data, the results of their tests, information on pervious donations and the time for the next recommended blood donation.

In future, the information system will include recommendations for donors on what to do when an analysis has not been in order.

Users will also be able to change their contact data and fill in questionnaires on their health and lifestyles before going to donate blood.

At the moment, the information system is being tested. Initially eDonor database will only be used by the Northern Estonian Regional Hospital, but later other blood banks are expected to join as well.
