Alsatians (German shepherd dogs) are firmly sanding at the top of the list of the most popular dog breeds in Lithuania. Having summarized data about pedigree dogs that were born in Lithuania or imported into our country over the past seven years, it became clear that this breed is most popular in the country, informs ELTA/LETA.

"English bulldogs that captured the second place can be met on the streets in Lithuanian towns quite rarely. The majority of puppies of this breed born in Lithuania over past several years found new homes in Western Europe or the U.S.A.," explains Danguole Papinigiene, compiler of the Lithuanian dog breeds book. The third most popular breed in Lithuania is Yorkshire terriers.

Labrador retrievers and golden retrievers are also very popular. French bulldogs are the sixth according to popularity in the country. They are followed by Siberian huskies.
