Baltbat Staff exercise takes place in Lithuania’s Rukla

Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian staff of the trilateral Baltic Battalion train in Lithuanian Grand Duke Algirdas Mechanised Infantry Battalion in Rukla during a period March 23 – 25, reported ELTA the Ministry of Defence of Lithuania.

 

Purpose of the exercise is brushing skills of Baltbat staff to conduct operational planning according to the military decision-making process. The training will be conducted through planning several operations. Baltbat staff is trained at least once a month to implement the Baltbat Combat Readiness Plan 2009 and to get ready for NATO evaluation due on June 1-18 during the Baltic Eagle exercise, which will take place in Latvia, Adazi Military Area.

 

Each division of the battalion will be required to meet standards of NATO Combat Readiness Evaluation System: starting with in-barrack training and continuing to implementation of combat operations of a battalion-sized unit.

 

Trilateral Baltic Battalion was established in September, 2007, and manned by troops, contributed by the three Baltic States. The aim of Baltbat is the preparation for standby period in NATO response Force rotation 14, as well as to maintain due level of readiness throughout the duty period in the first half of 2010.
