Sunken "Beverina" crew's families plan to turn to courts

Relatives of the crewmembers of the fishing trawler "Beverina", who lost their lives when the trawler sank near Liepaja last December, plan to turn to courts, the newspaper Telegraf reports today.
The families of the deceased crewmembers want to find out who is to blame for the tragedy. They have not yet decided who to sue, which depends on the results of the investigation, writes LETA.
The main question that the "Beverina" crewmen's relatives want to be answered is why none of the crewmembers was rescued.
As reported, the "Beverina" sank in the Baltic Sea three miles off the coast near Liepaja on the night of December 2.
The ship had a crew of six: Captain Sergejs Volkovs and seaman Sergejs Nalimovs (both born 1967), mechanic Dainis Bagatais (1956), Igors Gergesa (1963), Igors Semjonovs (1967) and Valerijs Gavrisko (1961).
Partly decomposed bodies of Volkovs and Bagatais were found washed ashore near Liepaja.
The Liepaja Police have launched a criminal case according to the Criminal Law Section 257 – violation of provisions regarding traffic safety or operations of railway, water and air transport.
