Lithuanian journalists revealing corruption plans win noble feathers

On Tuesday, journalists from the entire of Lithuania – laureates of the creative competition "The Media against Corruption" – were awarded statues of golden, silver and bronze feathers. This competition was held by the Lithuanian Journalists Union, the National Journalist Creators" Association and the Special Investigation Service for the second year in a row, informs ELTA.

 

Dainius Radzevicius, chairman of the Lithuanian Journalists Union and member of the competition evaluation commission, claims that journalists tend to participate in the competition more actively – this year about 30 journalists were competing in it.

The competition evaluation commission awarded nine participants from the national press and internet portals, regional press, television and radio.

 

Journalists Jone Kucinskaite and Giedre Petkeviciute from the magazine "Veidas" have won the first place in the national press and internet portals category of the "The Media against Corruption 2008" competition. The second place in this competition was taken by journalist Tomas Berzinskas from the daily Respublika and the third place was taken by Dainius Sinkevicius from the news portal Delfi.

 

In the category of towns districts and regional press the first place was taken by Jurate Sobutiene from the daily Siauliai Plius, the second place went to Rita Zadeikyte from the daily Siauliu Krastas and the third place was captured by Arvydas Lingaitis from Anyksta.

 

In the category of television and radio, the winners were the creative group of the television programme Paskutinë Instancija, as well as Ziniu Radijas journalists Agne Skamarakaite, Ridas Jasiulionis and Audrys Antanaitis.

 

The special nomination of the competition "The Media against Corruption 2008" for professionalism and intolerance of corruption was awarded to Rytis Juozapavicius from Valstybe, Alfreda Gudiene from Siaures Rytai and Limina Mateliene from Panevezio Rytas.

 

The winners of the first place were awarded with statues of a golden feather, the second – silver feather and the third – bronze feather.
