On Monday, Latvia's second-best ranked lady tennis player Anastasija Sevastova defeated American talent Coco Gauff 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in the opening round of this year's U.S. Open Grand Slam tennis tournament, informed LETA. 

At the moment, Sevastova is ranked 45th in the WTA rankings, while Gauff is ranked 51st.

Sevastova has earned 70 WTA ranking points for advancing to the second round of the U.S. Open, where she will take on Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk, who is currently ranked 137th in the world.
