Ostapenko knocked out of Shenzhen WTA

On Tuesday, Latvia's best ranked lady tennis player Alona Ostapenko lost to the Czech Republic's Krystyna Pliskova 1-6, 4-6 in the opening round of the Shenzhen WTA International series tennis tournament, reports LETA.

At the moment, Ostapenko is ranked 7th in the WTA rankings, while Pliskova is ranked 61st.

Ostapenko earned one WTA ranking point for participating in the Shenzhen tournament.
