Vecvagars appointed new head coach of Latvian men's basketball team

BC, Riga, 27.09.2017.

Former national team player Arnis Vecvagars has been confirmed as the new head coach of the Latvian national men's basketball team, according to information obtained by LETA.

The 43-year-old Vecvagars was an assistant to head coach Ainars Bagatskis during this year's European Men's Basketball Championships, where Latvia finished in fifth place.

Vecvagars has coached several Latvia's national youth teams since 2014, and last season was the head coach of local basketball club Jurmala/Fenikss.

As reported, Bagatskis stepped down as the head coach of the Latvian team after EuroBasket.
