Other events in Baltic States

Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have jointly prepared a cinema, music and arts program for the Baltic States Culture Week in Paris, which is organized marking the year of their 90th anniversary. The Baltic Culture Week is also part of a wider series of events, organized within the framework of the European Culture Season in France, which takes place from July to December this year.

Latvian choir "Latvija" will perform a number of concerts during the course of the week, as LETA was informed by the choir's producer Ieva Vitina.

The first concert took place in Paris yesterday evening, where under the conductor Maris Sirmais, the choir "Latvija" performed acapella music masterpieces by Arvo Part, Peteris Vasks and other remarkable Baltic States' composers. In France, the choir "Latvija" will perform also in Bordeaux, Rethel, Chalons-en-Champagne and other cities.

Representatives of the Embassy of Latvia in Paris admitted that in France the choir "Latvija" is known as one of the most outstanding European choirs, especially famous for its sophisticated and highly professional manner of acapella singing.
