Maccabi Fox wants to sign Bagatskis as head coach

The famous Israeli basketball club Tel Aviv Maccabi Fox wants to hire Latvia's Ainars Bagatskis as the club's head coach, several Israeli media and sportswriter David Pick report today writes LETA.
According to Walla.co.il, if the talks with Bagatskis are successful, the contract with the Latvian could be signed by the end of the current season.
The portal also writes, referring to the club's representatives, that Bagatskis is willing to take the new job on condition that his current club, Istanbul Darussafaka Dogus agrees to the deal.
Maccabi Fox are currently in talks with Darussafaka Dogus about Bagatskis, while Pick writes today that the Istanbul club has already allowed the Latvian to sign contract with the Israeli club.
At Darussafaka Dogus, Bagatskis is assistant to the head coach David Blatt. Also, Latvian forward Dairis Bertans plays for the Turkish club.
Maccabi Fox fired its head coach Rami Hadar last week.
The Israeli media also write that, should no agreement be reached with Bagatskis, the club will offer the job to Lithuania's Rimas Kurtinaitis.
At the moment, Maccabi Fox are in tenth place in ULEB Euroleague with five wins in twelve games. On the other hand, Darussafaka Dogus are in seventh place with six wins and six losses.
Bagatskis signed a two-year contract with Darussafaka Dogus this past summer. Before that, the 49-year-old Bagatskis was the head coach of the Russian basketball club Nizhny Novgorod, which is now coached by another Latvian coach, Arturs Stalbergs.
Bagatskis, the head coach of Latvian national team, has also coached basketball clubs in Georgia and Ukraine, as well as Latvian basketball clubs Barons and Valmiera, Lithuania's Zalgiris, and Russia's Krasnoyarsk Yenisey.
Bagatskis has been the head coach of the Latvian national team since 2010.
Maccabi Fox has won Israeli Basketball Championships 51 times, and won the Euroleague six times.
