Riga "Dinamo" on Saturday came back from a five-goal deficit to beat Helsinki "Jokerit" in overtime shootout 6:5 (0:0, 0:5, 5:0, 0:0, 1:0), informs LETA.

This is the first time in the Kontinental Hockey League's (KHL) history that a team is able to make a comeback from being five goals down.

Mikelis Redlihs scored two goals for the "Dinamo", while Steven Seigo, Tim Sestito, and Krisjanis Redlihs scored one goal each. Skipper Lauris Darzins scored the winning goal in the overtime shootout, he also had three assists.

The scorers for "Jokerit" were Philip Larsen, Niklas Hagman, Niko Kapanen, and Jesse Joensuu (two goals).

Furthermore, forward Vitalijs Pavlovs played his first match for the "Dinamo" after a one-and-a-half year suspension for failing a doping test at the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Riga "Dinamo" will now travel to Belarus to play Minsk "Dinamo" on Monday.

With 34 points from 27 matches, Riga "Dinamo" is currently in 13th place in the KHL Western Conference, while "Jokerit" is in second place with 47 points.
